SCREAMING AT ’80s SLASHERS ON YOUTUBE!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! It’s been a busy busy week, I tell you what! Now, there’s plenty of you horror hounds out there tweeting requests for us to give ya our 2 cents on everything from your favorite B-movies to cartoons and video games, and we’re more than happy to oblige! Problem is, however, animation is a long and tedious process that limits how many of these requests we can get to with a full blown animated adventure. Our compromise? The R-Rated Review blog!

Here, we update you every week on what we’ve been watching from bootleg DVDs of forgotten horrors from yesteryear to the Imax blockbusters of today. We can’t give ya a full blown course of an animated review for everything we see, but we can easily feed ya some snack size opinions that clearly give ya our quick and dirty rundown of a film’s worth.

Another problem with review requests is whether or not we have the movies you want us to watch and shoot the shit about. We’ve got a huge collection of horror we’re adding to every month, but our wish list of movies is pretty long before we can turn to hunting down and purchasing what you want us to see. But then there’s the Scream Freaks we love who make things easy by either mailing their requested movies to us for review or send us links to videos online.

Thanks to these loyal Scream Freaks, we’ve been made aware of some more obscure slasher films we’ve never seen from the ’80s, and those fans even provided us with Youtube links to watch them all! Sure some of them are poor bootleg quality, but they’re all watchable and free until some higher force takes them down. Honoring the fans, we’ve pretty much been shut ins the last couple of weeks watching these B-movies one after another, constantly adding to the R-Rated Review blog. Because those Scream Freaks were nice enough to share this nostalgic entertainment with us, we want to share it with you. Check out the links below, and see what we think about them in our blog after watching them or use our reviews to help choose some horrific entertainment!

As a reminder, be sure to catch up on Screaming Soup! SCREAMING AT JESSE JAMES MEETS FRANKENSTEIN’S DAUGHTER!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! Start poppin’ that popcorn and pour some alcohol in your soda as we kick back for another exciting episode of Screaming Soup! Buzzkill’s still got the Howl-Inn Grub & Spirits under his thumb and help is still being recruited for taking him and his monster misfits out. This time the road to victory leads us to legends in both western and horror with the oddball combo of Jesse James and Maria Frankenstein!

These nuts first met in Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter which obviously becomes our flick to review this episode. It’s a different kind of film with its genre mish-mashing that’s a hit and miss from scene to scene, but had enough going on in it for us to have some fun stuff to shoot the shit about. Hopefully without too much trouble from the voodoo hoodoo gang that runs the restaurant we’re meeting them at!

And a special thanks to the Grim Reaper from Your Final Answer for putting up with Buzzkill as a guest star. Check out the Reaper’s website (paradeofhorrorables.com), and subscribe to his Youtube page!!

SCREAMING AT LITTLE MONSTERS

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! It’s Wednesday and that means fresh print just got dumped on the comic racks! If you follow our Sequential Slime blog, you’re already aware of what we’ve been reading and consider the best horror movie related funny books out there right now. We’re still on the fence with the Army of Darkness books, love the Puppet Master comics, and still can’t get over Kurt Russell’s curtain call from comics with the sudden cancelation of Escape From New York and the end of Big Trouble in Little China’s run! But we’re happier than coyotes in a henhouse about the announced crossover between Snake Plissken and Jack Burton!

Anyway, it’s time for another Graphic Violence review, and this time around we picked another lesser known run of licensed rag reads, focusing on the 6 issue mini-series of Little Monsters from NOW comics. Released on the heels of Beetlejuice, Little Monsters is a cult film that’s about a boy named Brian who captures and befriends a monster under his bed named Maurice who introduces Brian to a fantasy world of monsters and magic under the beds of the world. It’s hard to believe this beloved 80s flick isn’t bigger than it is being when it’s so ripe for translating into a successful kids cartoon, but it was simply overlooked for one reason or another.

Lucky for the fans, however, there was one attempt at continuing the adventures of Brian and Maurice, and that was the handful of comics published by NOW comics a few short months after the film’s release in theaters. These comics are alright for the most part, but you’ll need to watch the vid below to get the full run down on what all we liked and despised about them.

Other than that, be sure to catch up on Screaming Soup! Seasons 1-2 after watching the latest Season 3 episodes, check out this week’s Howl’n Hottie, read recent reviews for the newer horror films we’re watching in our R-Rated Reviews blog, and help us get the word out about the web’s #1 animated horror host show! SCREAMING AT ANOTHER BLOG ENTRY!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! This summer’s truly flyin’ by our sunburnt mugs, but that’s okay, ’cause it means Halloween’s just around the corner! Still a ways off, we know, but we’ve been busting our tailbones to get things shaking around here in time for the most ass kicking shindig of the year.

We’ve already got production underway for Screaming Soup! Season 4 which is easily proving to be the biggest undertaking of our show, and might just blow the horror community up with all the excitement we hope it’ll generate. Don’t want to say too much more about that surprise yet, but all will be revealed in our Halloween episode 10/20/16. We’re also working on fixing our website’s background layout for those few fans experiencing issues, and we’re looking into setting up some donation links through Youtube and Patreon.

The reason we’re looking at receiving donations is because there are a lot of things we wanna see done with our show and characters but are either spread thin workwise or simply lack the revenue to see some things happen. We’ve got plenty of ideas for trading cards, comics, game apps, a convention booth for appearances, etc., but animation takes so much time it’s almost impossible to complete it all as quickly as we’d like to see it done. With donations, however, we can support other artists and commission a lot of that kind of work and get more Screaming Soup! merch in your hands and quickly. Just need to get that up and running, and see where it goes from there!

Heads up next week, because we’ll be posting our next entry in the Graphic Violence review series 8/10/16 and will be taking a look back at the Little Monsters movie and its 6 issue mini-series from Now Comics. Sure to be informative and fun all at the same time!

SCREAMING AT SPRAINS AND BEYOND!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! What a busy and frustrating week it’s been. First off, our lead animator sprained their wrist connected to their artistic hand and had to lay off the creative stuff a few days. He tried pushing through the pain a day or 2 but ultimately gave in to some needed r & r. He’s back in the saddle and happily animating away now, but he was incredibly depressed not being able to work with our gang of cartoon monsters for most of last week.

To raise morale during his hiatus, we caught up with friends over the weekend, some who asked for all kinds of support. We helped a filmmaker round up a beer slinging audience at an improv show to be extras watching a prison execution scene for a short they’re shooting. Ate the most expensive bland food anyone’s ever put deniro down for at a pretentious hole in the wall shit bar to listen to a partner’s band play. And had to pass on the new Lights Out flick, because everyone wanted to watch the new Star Trek sequel. Star Trek Beyond was good, mind ya, but Lights Out’s getting’ a lot of praise, and we gotta see why!

So, interesting week overall, but we’re firing on all pistons again and prepping the next secondary vid that’ll be posted 8/10/16. We don’t wanna give away what that vid is just yet, but we will say it’ll be another Graphic Violence review!

SCREAMING AT TICKS!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! Down a glass of raw protein and prepare to break a sweat, ’cause we’re going to the gym! Not to shred our bods mind ya, but to recruit the first folk on Frankenhooker’s list of the Crossland’s toughest umbres for helping take back the Howl-Inn from Buzzkill and his monster misfits. Yessir, we introduce a lot of new faces this episode with the arrival of Brainbasher, Roogaroo, and the mountains of might known as the Ticking Time Bombs who prove to be less than cooperative.

The Ticking Time Bombs did help inspire this month’s review at least, a nature gone wrong flick from the ’90s called Ticks. Starring Seth Green, Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Clint “Infested” Howard, this movie pits troubled campers against dopey dope farmers and giant ‘roid raging ticks they accidentally create. Solid teen performances and great special effects, you have to watch why this is easily one of our favorite bug movies below!

Also wanted to let you Scream Freaks know we swung by the theater this past weekend and checked out the new Ghostbusters that’s all but broken the internet. We came out the other side with surprisingly differing opinions and provide 2 different reviews. We have the flash fry review in our weekly R-Rated Reviews page, and provide a more in depth review by Mandy in a new blog HERE. Enjoy!

SCREAMING AT GARBAGE PAIL KIDS!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! In case you didn’t know, the ’80s was a major turning point for youngn’s entertainment. Not only was the toy market being driven by popular cartoons many criticized for being half hour commercials, but the wholesome family image began to slip, giving way to more gruesome forms of fun. There were crazy looking products of bizarre nature like Madballs, Real Ghostbusters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and most importantly . . . the Garbage Pail Kids!

In response to the Cabbage Patch Kids craze, Topps spoofed the cabbage cult with trading cards that mirrored the creepy dolls in horrifically twisted parodies and became a runaway success with the kiddies. Topps experienced popular responses to macabre cards before with their previous Mars Attacks! and Civil War News card sets back in the day, so they were more than familiar with what kind of dark images youngn’s wanted to see, and pumped out an ass load of them before petering out in the late ’80s.

Decades later, and we’re still enjoying these sick cards! The detailed art, the dark humor, the roster of unforgettable characters, and we still have lightning bolts of joy shoot through us every time we see new merchandise hit the shelves that’s 30 years overdue. And speaking of overdue, nothing was more so than the canceled Garbage Pail Kids cartoon series!

You read right. The same year the less than favorable GPK movie was released, CBS produced a Garbage Pail Kids cartoon series. Before the show could air on its first TV, however, the angry parents of yesteryear believed it would be every bit as despicable as the cards and convinced the CBS execs to give it the axe. Since then, it’s been locked away until receiving a second chance on DVD in the mid-2000s. Like a secret blast from the past, this shamed series is now up for grabs for all GPK fans such as ourselves, and we give it a look in the vid below to see just what all the fuss was about back then. Hope you enjoy it!

SCREAMING AT FRANKENHOOKER!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! Hot off the heels of the successful Bloodbath & Beyond crossover, we present to you the newest and craziest chapter in the Buzzkill’s Revenge saga yet with your favorite gang of horror hosts reviewing the cult-hit, Frankenhooker!

We can still remember hearing rumors about this schlockbuster long ago, and how excited we were when we finally got to see it in all its shocking glory years later. Many filmmakers have given the Frankenstein story their own creative spin, but only Frank Henenlotter’s version about a crazed electrician re-animating his mowed down girlfriend with hooker body-parts has ever stood out enough to make us want to run and tell all our friends about it. Raunchy, gritty, and full of fun, every horror fan needs Frankenhooker in their collection.

We also have more horrific personalities making guest appearances in this episode and want to give a quick shout out to those folks. Jay from Bloodbath & Beyond is back along with our friend Grim Reaper from Your Final Answer, and we’re lucky enough to share the screen with the Horror Guru and the Horror Addicts who have been very cool to collaborate with. They’re all amazing talents in horror entertainment, so please click their links below to check out their Youtube channels, but make sure to come back here for more servings of Screaming Soup!

SCREAMING AT A BLOODBATH & BEYOND CROSSOVER!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! Grab an extra dish, ’cause yer gettin’ served up not 1 but 2 reviews of The Stuff! Wipe that confused look off yer face, we ain’t backtracking our own review for a 2nd go ’round. No, sir. We’ve been in talks with the fine folks over at Bloodbath & Beyond, and before you know it, one thing led to another and Wooowee! We got ourselves a bona fide crossover of unprecedented mayhem!

Being the web’s first and only animated horror hosts means a lot of firsts, and this is one of them. Never before have live action horror hosts mixed with fully animated ones, and the result is laugh out loud epic. So epic, this crossover could only be done as a 2-parter with both sets of hosts visiting each other’s sets. Both parts are below, and we would suggest starting with the Screaming Soup! half as part 1, so you get a full understandin’ of what’s happenin’ before switching over to BBB’s half of the crossover.

We give a joyful YEEEHAAAAW! to Bloodbath & Beyond for decidin’ to take this steer by the horns and help make a memorable video we’re sure ya’ll will enjoy. We encourage you to check out more of their vids on their Youtube channel HERE, but come back to us for more helpings of Screaming Soup!

SCREAMING AT UPCOMING CROSSOVERS!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! We can already tell ya, this is going to be a fun month for Screaming Soup! Not only are we going to bring you our favorite review of Season 3 on 6/20/16, but we’re also playing host to several macabre guests we’ve asked to join us for some crossover antics!

We don’t want to spoil the surprise for who these guests are just yet, but the majority of them are other popular horror movie reviewers you more than likely heard of, and they’ll be making cameos in the next episode which takes our gang to the Tailhouse — the Crosslands #1 stripjoint! We push the animation further, give ya plenty of cartoon babes to oogle, review one of the best B-movies of all time, and share the screen with some of the hottest talents in the business. It’s going to be unforgettable.

In the meantime, we are ready to tell you we’ve been hard at work on a crossover special with another team of superstars . . . Bloodbath & Beyond! Yessir, we’ve been talking a lot with these guys lately, and we both came to the obvious conclusion we needed to do a crossover. Live action meets animation, its a true clash of worlds as we step outside our norms, attempting something we’ve never done before. I won’t say how we crossover or what we’re going to review, but it’ll be like a 2-parter with fans needing to watch vids on both our Youtube channels to get the full story. We’re aiming to release that by Friday, 6/10/16.
