SCREAMING AT RETRO-HORROR CON 2025!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! Halloween’s ’bout ‘nother couple o’ months away, but it’s already in full swing ’round these parts. Store’s are burstin’ with ghoulish goodies, the costume shops are open with every disguise and murder weapon a trick or treater could ask fer, and our amigos at Toy Federation just had their first ever horror convention — Retro-Horror Con! Yessir, this inaugural event was one fer the history books to scream the least, and we had a hoot and a half as its official announcers.

Jump scarin’ the chance to go all-in on this monstrous event, we took full advantage of bein’ in the eye of the storm and came out with some of the greatest memories any creep could hope to take to their grave. Aside from announcing, we got to drive horror hall of famers ’round town to their tv station interviews, host VIP dinners in Roger L. Jackson’s honor (the voice of Ghostface in all the Scream movies), lead panel discussions fer Judith O’Dea (Barbara from Night of the Living Dead), Jonathan Breck (The Creeper from Jeepers Creepers 1-3), and David Naughton (star of An American Werewolf in London), as well as mingle with a roomful of top shelf horror talents durin’ a special celebrity dinner that included Alex Vincent (Andy from Child’s Play 1-3), Derek Mears (Jason from Friday the 13th (2009)), Bill Johnson (Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), and Allan Trautman (Tarman from Return of the Living Dead 1-2).

For a gang of top shelf talents known fer playin’ some of cinema’s most horrifyin’ villains, they turned out to be some of the nicest folks any fan could wanna meet. Derek proved to be the quietest giant you’ll ever see sneak up on someone, Judith is the most delightful ball of energy to ever charge into a room, Bill always has the most thought provokin’ topics to discuss, Allan was the best neighbor anyone could be stuck by at a con, Jonathan disarmed everyone he met with that Texan smile of his, and Roger was the warmest soul with the best sense of humor we couldn’t get ‘nough of.

Of all the good times we had, our favorites were definitely with Judith, Jonathan, and Roger. Judith was all smiles, greeted everyone with open arms, and left the stage durin’ our panel with her to sit in the audience for a more up-close and personal conversation with her fans they couldn’t believe. Jonathan quickly figured out he was in Creeper country, and the one thang he loved more than hearin’ folks’ stories of their fandom fer Jeepers Creepers was pullin’ a good prank. The best by far, was him ambushin’ Mandy durin’ one of her con announcements over the intercom with a run-by fear sniffin’ that caused her to shriek into the microphone. We’re still in stitches laughin’ ’bout that one!

The mon-star of the hour fer us, however, was Roger, who we hung out with the most. He’s a walkin’ encyclopedia of movie trivia from the Golden Age of cinema to today, introduced us to some cool new songs like “Psycho” by Eddie Noack, offered some voice actin’ tips, and even sang unforgettable parody tunes he learned from Mad Magazine fer a karaoke performance. He was the hardest fer us to say good-bye to, but bridges have been built fer us to cross paths in the future.

As far as the rest of Retro-Horror Con, the vendors were unbelievable with their merch and displays. We had a free play arcade in the corner from Pinky’s Revenge, fellas with free samples of their spooky hot sauce they were sellin’ with jarred eels on their table, original bad ass action figure lines like World War Hell by Grindhouse Toys that came in kick-ass VHS packagin’, replica makers like Ten31FX with their Jason and Leatherface masks, and the show stopper of the whole weekend — this haunted house lookin’ VHS store with lifetime rentals. We wanna live in this sucker, we’re tellin’ ya! Truly amazin’!

We’ve been so stoked ’bout our involvement with Retro-Horror Con, we even added some new promotional material at our table. We’re still sellin’ the Scream Freaks Fan Club Kit, posters, and trading cards (now in new wax packs) as usual, but now we added the first ever Screaming Soup! pogs! Yup, our next disastrous idea fer advertisin’, we went all in on this ’90s fad and produced a set of five pogs featurin’ Deadwest, Billy, Peyote, Spidercrow, and Rabbit Kadabra, all of ’em with info ’bout each character on the back. Dated idea? Maybe. Fun promotional item? Most definitely!!

So, in closin’, Retro-Horror Con was a howlin’ hottenanny of a good time, and we can’t wait to do it ‘gain next year! Don’t miss out and mark it on your calendar to attend and don’t skimp on the VIP Gold Passes, ’cause they’re totally worth it!

And fer y’all wantin’ more Screaming Soup! updates, know the latest Screaming Soup! episode is still on the way as well as the Deadwest action figures we’ve been teasin’. We got a sneak peek at the first of the figures produced and they look amaze-balls! We can’t wait to make that available to you loyal Scream Freaks out there!!

SCREAMING AT LINNEA QUIGLEY!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! Hope your Halloween season’s off to a great start, and we can’t wait for you to join us for our epic Halloween finale next week, 10/20/16! Fun reviews, favorite characters return, and we reveal our plans for next season’s storyline that’s sure to get a lot of you falling out of your seat with excitement!

But focusing on the now, it’s time for another Tribute video and given we did a big one on Bruce “King of the B” Campbell last Halloween, we thought we’d turn to our favorite Queen of Scream this time, Linnea Quigley! Apocalyptic soldier, cemetery dancing punk, fitness instructor, nerd turned succubus, demonic cutie, chainsaw prancing hero, she’s played it all and continues to entertain us today with an ever growing list of credits. While most will always remember her for her iconic role as a naked zombie in Return of the Living Dead, our favorite Linnea role is still Spider from Sorority Babes at the Slime Bowl-O-Rama. She didn’t show any skin in that flick, but we always felt that was her coolest character who was tough, fun, and endearing. Anyway, check the video we put together below and bask in her talents!

Other than that, be sure to catch up on Screaming Soup! Seasons 1-2 after watching the latest Season 3 episodes, check out this week’s Howl’n Hottie, read recent reviews for the newer horror films we’re watching in our R-Rated Reviews blog, and help us get the word out about the web’s #1 animated horror host show! We’ll see ya later, Scream Freaks!
