SCREAMING AT THE CREEPY CHANNEL CRAWL AND HORRORTUBERS!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks! Hope you’re wide awake ’cause Saturday the 16th kicks off the much anticipated 24 hour marathon, the Creepy Channel Crawl! Yessir, in a nutshell for any newbies to the site, there was a recent shitstorm among small time YouTubers after the head honchos of YouTube announced they wouldn’t monetize or promote any videos or their associated channels without 1000+ subscribers and 4000 hours of views in the past year. Some folks bitched, others went about their business, and then there’s gangs like the Horror Addicts who decided to rally support for certain channels they wanted to champion with the upcomin’ Creepy Channel Crawl!

Beginnin’ at 9 PM EST, this live streamin’ party kicks off at the Horror Addicts’ YouTube channel, and then every hour the marathon switches to a different YouTuber’s channel with its own brand of horrific humor and wild guests lookin’ for support to keep up with the demands of the web’s go-to video site. 24 hours, 24 different channels with more reviewers and horror hosts than you can wave a angry mob torch at from around the world includin’ y’all’s truly as animated crossin’ guards directin’ viewers where to go at the top of each hour. All the details can be found at HorrorAddictsTV.com along with a helpful schedule that lets folks jump in at anytime with links to each channel.

You know, since the start of this whole #SmallYouTubeArmy thing, we’ve been made aware of a lot more horrortubers within our online community of like-minded sickos. Problem is though, a lot of them tend to blur together with most everyone followin’ the floatin’ head show formula with candid talks about whatever they wanna share with viewers. Now, we don’t think there’s anythin’ wrong with that, and some hosts have enough personality and wit that makes fans beg for more, but we usually look for content with a bit more pizzazz in its step which is why our show goes to such lengths to produce the kind of entertainment we offer. Here’s a few horrific talents that caught our eye you might consider checkin’ out.

The Interfearence. Very small channel with only a handful of vids, but this fella caught our attention with his green screen look and penchant for old school monster movie hostin’. Found him when lookin’ up others’ online support for Joe Bob Briggs bein’ brought to Shudder.

The Homicidal Homemaker. Hosted by Kaci Hansen, this cookin’ show is a top notch production with short easy to follow videos for whippin’ up sinfully delicious treats themed after popular horror movies. As a bonus, most her vids include pretty damn impressive skits featurin’ our favorite monsters!

The Fun Nun Horror Show. Creepy Pasta feelin’ kind of vids featurin’ a mix of a guy yammerin’ ’bout movies while cross dressin’ as a nun, and a puppet named Duncan spazzin’ out while watchin’ scenes from different horror flicks. It’s a little too erratic for us, and we’d need to see more before makin’ an official statement regardin’ its entertainment value, but we definitely appreciate how different it is!

Emily’s Adventures in HorrorLand. A horror reviewer from the United Kingdom, Emily has a lot going right for her vids from what we can see. Eye catchin’ video covers, insightful reviews, funny skits, and above all else, she looks like she’s havin’ a lot of fun which only escalates the viewer’s experience for the better!

The Mummy and the Monkey Show. This is classic horror hostin’ at its best resemblin’ a variety show with one of the funniest character themed pairin’s we’ve ever seen. Not only are these Cleveland superstars hostin’ vintage films, but they’re sharin’ footage from their visits to horror conventions, performin’ comedy sketches, promotin’ their antique store, and even playin’ cartoons of their zany adventures.

Again, we encourage you to give these channels a look and drop in anytime durin’ the marathon to say howdy to the participatin’ channels. They’ve been workin’ really hard to prepare for this event, and we’re sure it’s gonna be somethin’ to remember!

Other than that, be sure to catch up on all past Screaming Soup! Seasons, check out this week’s Howl’n Hottie, read recent reviews for the newer horror films and comics we’re checkin’ out in our blogs, R-Rated Reviews and Sequential Slime, and help us get the word out about the web’s #1 animated horror host show! SCREAMING AT CHANNEL CRAWLS AND JOE BOB BRIGGS!

Howdy there, Scream Freaks, and putrid polecats, things have been jumpy on the web lately! In case you haven’t heard, YouTube’s been pullin’ its hair out at a bunch of drama stirred up by its advertisin’ partners for the past while, and it’s makin’ them rethink how a lot of things work over there. See, it use to be anyone could throw a video of any length and quality up on YouTube and select the option to turn that sucker into bankable cyberspace where junkmail ads could play, depositin’ micro-cents in these YouTubers’ pockets the more people watched their stuff.

Some big bad business gets all out of sorts, however, when it finds out its coveted ads are attached to videos that don’t exactly match their message for supportin’ the economy with caffeine jitters or booger blowin’ services, and raises hell with YouTube. Despite the fact no one likes ads on YouTube and avoids them like handshakes in a restroom, mega corporations don’t like how their investment in internet ads seems carelessly stuck onto any and all videos of questionable content that would make a nun blush, and make it appear as though they condone such sick entertainment. So, like EC Comics bein’ outed for corruptin’ the youth of America, one of the first genre of vids under scrutiny are the horror themed channels. Anyone bringin’ us the joy of blood, gore, and boobs most likely had their videos demonetized, bringin’ us the first wave of shame to be felt by the horror community. Some horrotubers rolled with the changes, others moaned about losin’ their weekly vendin’ machine funds, and the rest replaced their financial losses with what they dig out the couch.

Then the second wave of YouTube shenanigans hit. Without goin’ into all the details, some hot shot YouTuber ridin’ high on the ads aired someone’s decayin’ carcass on his channel and started an all new shitstorm. Lookin’ to wrangle even more control over the wild wild web of unpredictable video uploads for the sake of holdin’ onto to its only real source of profit, YouTube decided to cut its risks down even more, stating new rules goin’ into effect 2/20/18. By this date, any YouTube channel that has less than 1000 subscribers or less than 4000 hours worth of viewin’ time from the past year will not be allowed to monetize their vids. Now, while no one fallin’ short of these requirements is makin’ any YouTube money to begin with, the problem is really how this impacts their channel’s chances for bein’ pushed out in the open for YouTubers to discover and help grow its fanbase. More people watchin’ means higher view counts meanin’ bigger chances these channel creators might make you some dough for their efforts. You get the idea . . .

Now, as for Screaming Soup!, we luckily made the cut. Not that we ever made YouTube moola to begin with, but it’s still a comfortin’ thought. Other up and comin’ horrortubers aren’t quite as lucky though, and there’s been an aggressive movement among them that’s generated buzz like #SaveHorrorTube on Twitter and formed new communities like HorrorTube Army on Facebook. Other established horrortube personalities have even gone the extra mile to arrange special events for raisin’ awareness for these smaller channels such as Spooky Astronaut creatin’ a community playlist of horror related channels needin’ help. February 17th at 9 PM EST, the Horror Addicts have rallied together several channels in need of help and has put together an event called The Creepy Channel Crawl which will be a livestreamin’ 24 hour marathon on YouTube with a different channel hostin’ at the top of every hour. It’s sure to be an interestin’ time that’ll help get channels a lot of notice that weekend. Our show couldn’t commit to hostin’ a full hour of live streamin’, but we are providin’ transitional segments for the event that’ll remind viewers what’s happenin’ at the end of every hour and where to go next for watchin’ the next portion of the marathon. In other news, we also want to officially announce our support for bringin’ horror host hall of famer Joe Bob Briggs back into our afterlives. The previous host of the Movie Channel’s Drive-In Theater and TNT’s MonsterVision, Joe Bob’s been off the air since 2000, and he’s tellin’ his loyal fanbase that Shudder TV might just bring him back, but he needs to prove he’s still in demand. To do this, he’s askin’ folks to provide him with an arsenal of testimonial videos beggin’ for more of his Drive-In Totals and redneck banter. We gladly answered the call sent him the vid posted below. If you’re a fan of Joe Bob and sick of watchin’ the same ol’ YouTube reruns of his glory days, then we encourage you to make your own vid and send it to one of TV’s greatest horror host legends at joebobtvshow@gmail.com and joebob@joebobbriggs.com.
