Howdy there, Scream Freaks! Today’s the day you put all your impatient anxiety aside, ’cause it’s time for another excitin’ episode of Screaming Soup!

For y’all needin’ to play catch-up, the Iron Horsemen of Doom finally caught up with our apocalyptic goat sidekick Billy and snatched his furry ass back to the underworld where he’s expected to fulfill his purpose as a doomsday sacrifice to unleash the horsemen’s gang of evil gods who wanna lay waste to our world. Racin’ against the clock, we assemble a team of amigos crazy ‘nough to bum rush hell for Billy’s rescue, but after a run-in with a pissed off firebreathin’ bear, our numbers are cut in half before we even reach the gates! With so few of us left to complete the mission, we gotta play it smart if we’re gonna tango with the 12 kinds of crazy that roam just the entrance to this realm of nightmares.

To help us stay calm and collected, we review John Carpenter’s less celebrated masterpiece In The Mouth Of Madness, ’bout a writer whose horror novels are more than just best sellers . . . they’re literally changin’ the world! This is a flick we saw waaay after the fact, but been in love with it since our first viewin’. There’s been plenty of takes on writers whose imaginations come to life with a narrative stroke of a pen, but this is the only one we know of that takes the concept to such an epic end of days scope. In The Mouth Of Madness is such a great mash-up of references that’s hard to miss, it’s thought provokin’ at times, and Sam Neil does a great job givin’ us such a quirky cynic to experience it all through.
